Family Review Launch

Grateful to be at the launch of Children’s Commissioner Dame Rachel de Souza’s Independent Family Review in Westminster 1st September.

This was comissioned by Kemi Badenoch when she was a Minster in what was then Michael Gove’s department of Levelling up, Housing and Communities.

The report from the first stage of the review is here.

Key message is that the review confirms that family has a protective effect, insulating families in difficult times, that families in 2022 come in all shapes and sizes and have common support needs, and prefer to get support from people they know and trust. All are core reasons we created The Family Support Group.

Dame Christine Ryan, Chair of OFSTED making a very good point about the challenges of siloed budgets and the paranoia of GDPR compliance that gets in the way of data sharing to protect children.

Stuart Black, 4 September 2022.
